The Police Illegal Assets and Property Investigation Unit have commenced an investigation to ascertain how controversial preacher Jerome Fernando has accumulated his wealth.Police say that about nine million US dollars was spent on the construction of his main prayer centre, in Veyangoda.

The building sits on a four acre land donated by one of Jerome’s followers.Twelve apartments have been purchased by Jerome and his family members, in high-end apartment complexes in Mount Lavinia and Havelock Town, police have found.
