Garlic scam suspect offered lucrative contract
SJM MP Patali Champika Ranawaka’s Eksath Janaraja Peramuna (EJP) yesterday (21) alleged that former Deputy General Manager, Sathosa, Chamila Asuramanna, arrested in connection with Sathosa garlic scam and later granted bail by the Fort Magistrate Court, had been awarded a lucrative contract with Maga Neguma Ministry.
Addressing the media in Colombo, EJP’s Central Committee member and Attorney-at-Law Rajika Kodituwakku questioned the rationale behind the appointment made by Transport, Highways and Media Minister Bandula Gunawardena.
Kodituwakku said that the suspect had been appointed as a financial advisor while the case was still pending and a proper audit was yet to be conducted. (SF)
