The recipients’ list of the Aswesuma welfare scheme will be changed based on appeals and complaints, State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe assured in Parliament today.

“The recipient list of the ‘Aswesuma’ scheme is not final. We published it to provide room for appeals and complaints and ensure that truly eligible people will receive assistance under the scheme.

“We also intend to begin reviewing recipients in August who are included in the lists for 2024. The government further intends to increase the allocation for the welfare scheme to Rs. 187 billion from Rs. 148 billion which is the current allocation,” he added.

Further, the State Minister said payments to kidney patients and differently-abled men and women next month under the Aswesuma Scheme.(Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)
