Pope advises Cardinal not to let up on Easter issue

Pope Francis has advised for not to give up struggle for truth and justice on behalf of the Easter Sunday victims, Colombo Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith said.The advice was issued when the Cardinal and other members of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Sri Lanka met with Pope Francis in Rome to make the traditional obligatory Ad Limina visit.
“The Pope told us not to give up our struggle for truth and justice in the course of our Easter Sunday victims,” Cardinal Ranjith said delivering his sermon at the Holy Mass offered at the Sacred Chapel of the Archbishop’s House in Borella to celebrate his 76th birthday.
The Cardinal said that he and members of the bishops conference had the opportunity to meet the Holy Father and converse with him. “The translation of the words used by the Pope meant never to give up the struggle,” The Cardinal said.
The visit ad limina apostolorum, meaning “to the threshold of the Apostles, is done once in every five years. The Bishops offered prayers at the Tombs of St Peter and Paul.
