Colombo, Dec.25 (Daily Mirror)  – In view of Christmas Day today, a total of 1,004 inmates are to be released under Presidential amnesty from every prison in the island, Prisons Commissioner and Spokesman Gamini B. Dissanayake said.

Accordingly, 989 male prisoners and 15 female prisoners are scheduled to be released.

The inmates who are unable to pay their fines, those who have already served half of their sentences and those who have already served half their sentences under rehabilitation orders, will be released on Christmas day morning, the spokesman said.
