President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, took part in religious observances at the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi and Ruwanwelisaya in Anuradhapura yesterday.

This was after receiving blessings from the Chief Prelate, Most Venerable Makulewe Wimala Nayaka Thera, Aggamaha Panditha of the Sri Lanka Ramanna Maha Nikaya, earlier in the day.

The prelates emphasised the importance of ensuring that appointments to key positions such as ambassadors, high commissioners, governors, and ministry secretaries be made based on qualifications.

President Dissanayake assured them that his goal is to make all decisions in line with the policies outlined in his manifesto and to ensure that qualified, intelligent individuals could represent the country effectively.

The President also shared his intention to introduce reforms after the upcoming general election, highlighting his commitment to fulfilling the expectations placed on him by the people.

The Most Venerable Makulewe Wimala Nayaka Thera expressed confidence in the President’s  leadership and said the Maha Sangha’s blessings would be with him throughout his journey to meet the public’s expectations.

The Anunayaka Theras, Lekhadhikari Theras, and other senior Theras of the Nikaya were also present The Maha Sangha chanted Seth Pirith to invoke blessings on the President. The Deputy Chief Prelates, Secretarial Theras, and other senior monks of the Nikaya were also present and bestowed their blessings on the President.
