Expressing disappointment over the recent revelations by Pivithuru Hela Urumaya leader Udaya Gammanpila, Gampaha District SJB leader Dr. Kavinda Jayawardena said that Catholics were calling for information on the masterminds behind the Easter Sunday attacks.

Dr Jayawardena commenting on Gammanpila’s release of two reports, said that they had failed to provide the crucial information the community seeks.

Jayawardena labelled Gammanpila’s actions as little more than an election gimmick.

While Gammanpila promised to unveil details from two unpublished investigations into the attacks, Dr. Jayawardena noted that the reports did not reveal any names of those who had orchestrated the tragedy.

“We hoped those reports would shed light on the masterminds behind the attacks, but instead, they merely mentioned some former police officers—none of whom were involved in planning or executing the terror attacks,” Jayawardena said. “What we need is information about those truly responsible and accountable for their actions.”

He also emphasized the inappropriateness of Gammanpila’s actions, especially in light of a request from the Cardinal urging against politicizing the issue in the name of the victims. “This drama should not have taken place,” he said.
