The SJB should appoint Eran Wickramaratne and Hirunika Premachandra as National List MPs, SJB MP Harsha de Silva said yesterday, addressing the media at his office at Ethul Kotte.

“I am really sad because Eran Wickramaratne and Hirunika Premachandra were not elected to Parliament. They can still get into Parliament through the National List and I think they should both be given the chance,” he said.

However, the SJB only secured five National List seats and slots needed to be allocated to representatives of a number of constituents who worked with the party, de Silva said.

“There is Mano Ganesan who also failed to get enough votes. Rauff Hakeem’s Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, Rishad Bathiudeen’s All Ceylon Makkal Congress and Palani Thigambaram’s National Union of Workers are also there.”

The SJB has a mammoth task ahead of itself with only 40 MPs, de Silva said.
