First high level visit from China since Prez and Parliamentary polls

President Dissanayake shares a light moment with top Chinese official Sun Haiyan

Vice Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Sun Haiyan has concluded a four-day visit to Sri Lanka, and the first high-level talks with the new Sri Lankan government. Haiyan arrived here on Nov. 23.

During the visit, Vice Minister Sun Haiyan paid a joint courtesy call on President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath ,on Nov. 25, at the Presidential Secretariat, during which discussions were focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and deepening ties between the two nations. During the visit, the Vice Minister also called on Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

Vice Minister Haiyan was accompanied by Deputy Director General of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Lin Tao, and Director of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Li Jinyan
