Leader of the Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) and Parliamentarian Mano Ganesan has proposed that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake establish special courts to hear corruption-related cases, enabling daily hearings to expedite them.

Welcoming the President’s anti-corruption drive, Ganesan has called for additional resources and more powers for the Bribery Commission, as well as enhanced support for the Attorney General’s Department and the CID within the police.

Taking to social media, Ganesan said: “The Police, Bribery Commission, Attorney General’s Department, and Judiciary, are institutions that the people place their trust in. Strengthening them is essential to combating corruption effectively.”

Ganesan commended President Dissanayake’s announcement that the Bribery Commission will reopen high-priority cases and begin filing them by the end of January and February. He urged the government to allocate more resources to clear the backlog of cases.

“Special courts for corruption-related cases should be established to ensure that hearings are conducted daily and cases are resolved efficiently,” Ganesan said, adding that this step would enhance public trust and demonstrate the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
