Court grants bail to passenger arrested for attempting to sexually harass flight attendants

Colombo, March 12 (Daily Mirror) – The passenger who was arrested for allegedly attempting to sexually harass two SriLankan Airlines flight attendants, was released on two sureties of Rs. 100,000 each by Colombo Chief Magistrate Tanuja Lakmali today.

The court also imposed a travel ban on the suspect.

The passenger, who had travelled on a flight from Mumbai, India, to Katunayake, was taken into custody early this morning (12) at the Bandaranaike International Airport by SriLankan Airlines security officers in coordination with the police.

The suspect is a 65-year-old dual citizen of Sweden and Sri Lanka, residing in Nagadeepa, Jaffna.

Police investigations revealed that the suspect had consumed alcohol during the flight. A medical examination confirmed that he was intoxicated at the time of the incident.

According to the police, the passenger, while under the influence of alcohol, had started behaving in a disruptive manner, causing inconvenience to fellow passengers. He later attempted to sexually harass two female flight attendants who were on duty.
