Singapore court adjourned the case to May 15
X-press pearl tragedy
The court case which was filed before a Court in Singapore seeking compensation from the shipping company for the environmental damage caused to Sri Lanka by the X-Press Pearl ship tragedy, has been adjourned to May 15.
The case was called for the first time yesterday (09).
A law firm in Singapore represented Sri Lanka in the case.
Sri Lanka’s Attorney General’s Department on April 26 confirmed that legal action was filed in Singapore seeking compensation of US$ 6.2 billion from the shipping company.
Sri Lanka is to inform the Singapore court about the exact compensation amount in the future. (Sunil Jayasiri)
