Justice Minister moots temporary suspension of parate executions
Justice Minister Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakse, PC, is scheduled to meet today (21) a delegation of local businessmen affected by the continuing economic crisis to discuss ways and means to provide them relief.
According to the Justice Ministry, the focus would be on the temporary suspension of parate executions meant to expedite the debt recovery process regardless of the difficulties experienced by the business community. The meeting will take place at the Jesmin hall, BMICH at 9.30 am.
Health Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana is also scheduled to attend the meeting. The Justice Ministry said that the discussions would cover the impact of the increase of VAT from 15% to 18% from January 1, 2024 and the expansion of the VAT net.
