Leasing of Trinco oil tanks: Cabinet reveals feasibility study recommendations

The Cabinet has announced the recommendations made in a feasibility study on the proposed development of 61 fuel tanks out of 99 in Trincomalee.

Sixty one tanks have been leased to the Trincomalee Terminal Private Ltd., a joint venture between the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and Lanka IOC for a period of 50 years. This decision was taken by the Cabinet, chaired by the then President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on 03 Jan., 2022.

The report has recommended preliminary development work to repair the tanks over a period of 16 years under seven phases.

The first phase envisages the renovation of nine tanks.
