Minister Devananda complains against Jaffna police
‘Some cops in league with drug dealers’
Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda has complained to National Security Advisor Sagala Ratnayake about the lapses on the part of the Jaffna police engaged in operations against the narcotic menace.
A statement issued by the Fisheries Ministry quoted the EPDP leader Devananda as having told the former Law and Order Minister that the Jaffna police should work under a proper plan to eradicate dangerous drugs. This issue was taken up during a zoom meeting held yesterday (03)
The Minister said that people believed some law enforcement personnel protected some narcotic dealers and strict action should be taken to discourage continuing Indian poaching as that was also another reason for exacerbating the narcotics problem. (SF)
