Former Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Mujibur Rahman was rushed to the National Hospital, Colombo, during a demonstration held by his party.

Speaking to the media, SJB MP Harsha de Silva said several other SJB leaders, including Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa, had come under tear gas attacks.

The SJB said yesterday’s demonstration was the first of a series of demonstrations against the government.

Party’s General Secretary MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara said that SJB supporters had gathered in Colombo from all parts of the country.

Commenting on the police seeking stay orders to prevent the march, he said that nothing could stop them from exercising their constitutionally-guaranteed rights.
